Scholarship Rules

These rules govern the Marc Zboch Academic Scholarship. Please read them carefully before submitting your application.

Award Amount
The Marc Zboch Academic Scholarship awards a one-time payment of $1,000 to one selected recipient.

Eligibility Requirements
The scholarship is open to any U.S. college or university student. There are no GPA, major, gender, or demographic requirements. Applicants must be registered for the Fall 2026 term at a U.S. college or university.

Essay Requirement
Each applicant must submit an original essay of 400 to 500 words responding to the prompt: “Describe a time when you made sacrifices to help others.” The essay must be the applicant’s own original work.

Application Deadline
All applications must be submitted by February 1, 2027 at 11:59 PM EST. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

Selection Process
Applications are reviewed by the Marc Zboch Academic Scholarship selection team. Essays are evaluated on how clearly and thoughtfully they respond to the prompt and demonstrate personal sacrifice in service to others. The decision of the selection team is final.

No Guarantee of Award
Submitting an application does not guarantee that an award will be made. The scholarship may decline to award in any given cycle at its sole discretion.

Payment of Award
The award is paid to the selected recipient after the recipient is confirmed and any required verification is complete. The recipient may be asked to provide additional information in order to receive payment.

Accuracy of Submitted Information
Applicants are responsible for the accuracy of all information they submit. Any application found to contain false or misleading information may be disqualified, and an award may be revoked if inaccuracies are discovered after selection.

Publicity Consent
If selected as a scholarship recipient or finalist, the Marc Zboch Academic Scholarship may use the recipient’s name, school, essay excerpt, photo, and story for scholarship-related publicity, website content, and promotional purposes. Non-selected applicants will not be publicly identified without additional permission.
